Students Leave Comments About Bullying

Bullying is becoming a hot topic across the United States. It seems more and more we are hearing of students who are being bullied and don’t know what to do. After one Outreach where Leah Amico spoke to students about making positive choices and Hope she received two comments from students that stuck out. One 5th grader wrote, “People put me down, but it gave me HOPE.” One comment that encouraged us was, “I bully kids sometimes & didn’t realize how hard it was for them.”-5th grader. These comments encouraged us to see that students lives are being transformed, and that if students take a step back they will see that we are all alike. It is our hope that both of these students will be an encouragement to others to be strong and think about what others may be dealing with.

Spring Outreaches in the Eastern Region

Outreaches in PA and NY are underway this Spring!  Rich Garza made a tremendous impact in Waterloo and Rochester NY!  The Captain there was going through the student cards and commented that Sports World is the best program for students in America!  That kind of commitment and conviction is contagious!  We are grateful that he cares enough to want to make a difference in the lives of students today!  He has already signed up to help bring another pro into his area next Fall!  Please contact me today to schedule a pro speaker in your area!

Report From Region 4

Region 4 is excited to report a great impact in the outreach areas! We have seen over the fall and now into the spring the impact Sports World is having  on our youth. We have seen in the news lately across the country high teen suicide rates that is now being blamed on bullying of others. These are the days of reaching out!

Region 4 is hosting two Victory Parties. One  in Cincinnati and one in Tompkinsville Kentucky. The Cincinnati Event will be held at the Christian University of Cincinnati April 11th at 7pm. The Tompkinsville Event will be held April 25th  at The First Baptist Church of Tompkinsville at 7pm. We are expecting a great turn out and looking forward to touching young hearts and redirecting young lives.

We are so grateful to everyone for the support and help that it takes to have an outreach in your area. We are always in search for contacts in new areas. If you are interested in having an outreach in your area please contact Sports World so we can continue to reach others.

Bakersfield, CA with Dick Ferris, Team Captain

Our Pro, Tim Lester, spoke to 6,000 students. Dick is a well organized Team Captain. He has Principals who line up the schools. He has a person who covers the housing and meals for the Pro. He has a team of drivers who take care of transporting and feeding the Pro during the day. He always has an evening time with business people and one evening event. He has several people who are happy to help financially so it is always a fully paid Outreach. Dick’s organizational strengths provides vision, follow up and encouragement for all those working with him. He stays on top of issues and communicates effectively with us to resolve any issues so they do not become problems. Dick has been a long time supporter of Sports World and values the relational presentations from our Pros. He has developed a powerful reputation with the schools so they look forward to our Outreaches to help their students.

Fall 2012 Outreaches

Our Pros motivate and encourage students to rethink the way they are living and seek better choices for their lives.  Our Pros use a variety of illustrations and personal stories to help students build a higher respect for themselves and others.

March Outreaches in Region 1

Region 1 had a great outreach in Daytona Beach, FL just prior to “Bike Week” in Daytona.  Nearly 3,000 students heard a challenge to make right choices and a message of hope as the pro, Herman Weaver, presented the program of “You’re not born a winner.  You’re not born a loser.  You’re born a chooser!”  We personally had the privilege of having Herman and his lovely wife, Suzy, come a few days early and stay with us in Melbourne Beach, FL.  During the weekend prior to the outreach they had a tremendous impact on our friends and also spoke at a couples gathering.   When school administrators are asked what is the best part of the program, probably the answer we receive most often is:  “The way he shared his personal, real life experiences.”This month we have scheduled outreaches in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

We have seen many individuals and groups contact us about bringing the Sports World program into their area for the fall.  Currently we are scheduling areas for the fall and should you or someone you know wish to know more about how your area might bring a 3-day outreach to your area students, please contact me directly at the numbers below.  Fall is a prime time for bringing the pro in to speak in area schools.  Not only is it a great way to jump-start a school year, but, of course, the fall is football season which generates additional excitement about a program featuring a former pro athlete.

Scheduling Assemblies

Sports World Associates are working hard to fill schedules for the Spring and Fall 2012 Semesters. They are calling schools and letting communities know there is an opportunity to bring a former professional athlete to their school. Now even more there is a need in schools for a positive influence to come along side teachers and share the same message as the teachers and administrators. If you would like to have a former Pro come to your school contact us at info@sportsworld.org or call 1.800.832.6546.

Students Make A Positive Choice

So far this school year 21,953 students have pledged that they will be drug and alcohol free! We are so happy to see that these students are making such a positive choice for their lives and working towards making their futures brighter and better. It is our hope that these students will be able to encourage their peers to make the same decision and not give into peer pressure. It’s not always easy to go against the crowd but it is always worth it in the end.

The Essence Of What We Do

Impact

According to Dictionary.com the word IMPACT means “to have an impact or effect on; influence; alter.”  That is what Sports World Pro’s are striving to do. Impact students to take a look at the decisions they are making and see the impact their decisions can have on their lives. Sports World Pro’s strive to be good role models and good influences to the students they speak to as well as others they come in contact with. Each Pro has a story of moments in their lives when they did not make the right decisions. Luckily, their stories do not end there. They have grown from their experiences and strive to make good decisions for their lives and set an example for others.

If you would like to find out how to bring a Pro to your school or want more information about Sports World email us at info@sportsworld.org.

Super Bowl Events In Region 1

As the Super Bowl approaches it creates much excitement in many peoples’ lives…….Sports World included.  It is a busy time for us as many of our pros are invited to speak at Super Bowl events and parties.  In Region 1 we have scheduled outreaches with pros speaking in area schools both immediately before and also after the Super Bowl in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.  One of these outreaches is sponsored by a local business that has a heart to provide the young people in their area a positive role model with a positive message of “You’re not born a winner.  You’re not born a loser.  You’re born a chooser! The pro shares his personal life experiences with students, helping them to recognize the consequences of their choices while challenging them with the Message of Hope.

If you would be interested in bringing a Sports World pro into your area, please contact me directly.”
