Southeast Region | Del PalmerMy wife, Marilyn, and I spent 18 years as missionaries to Japan. We had the privilege of starting three churches in Japan and also being involved in a camping ministry there. Our last five years we began a new marriage ministry to young engaged Japanese couples. I first heard of Sports World through the gentleman who was at that time the chaplain to the Sports World pros. I became a Regional Manager with Sports World Ministries for seven years. What a joy it was to see the tremendous impact that the Sports World pros were having on young people. Marilyn and I were involved for 14 years in marriage ministry training couples to be able to mentor other couples in all areas of marriage. During this time, I was appointed the Director of the Faith-Based Initiative of Florida’s Department of Children & Families. I have recently become a member of the Sports World team for the second time. We have come full-circle back to this great organization. Midwest Region | Jerry MillsI am a native Iowan residing in Chicago who comes from a football family: my father coached high school football for 25 years and my older brothers coach football at the college level. My mom in fact- and my music teacher – led our high school FCA huddle to become the largest club in our school. As a passionate Hawkeye fan, I get to have lots of “intense fellowship” with my wife Alexandria, a Sooner. I always reminder her that Oklahoma has Hawkeye brains (head coach Bob Stoops) leading their program. I came to Sports World through a ministry connection who knew Del and Marilyn Palmer. Most recently I served in the marketplace as a Project Manager and an Executive Coach and prior to that completed a seminary degree through Bethel Seminary and three-year leadership development program through Willow Creek Community Church in Chicagoland where I served as an Area Pastor. My undergraduate degree is in acting and I also lived in New York City studying and pursuing an acting career and then transitioned into youth ministry where I was Junior High co-leader at Times Square Church. And no, I have never acted in anything you have seen…yet. I am excited about helping to build teams in the Midwest to bring the message of Hope to students who otherwise may never have the opportunity to hear it. Southwest Region | Jean SampleI came to SW in 1986 after having the opportunity to meet Doc Eshleman and Janet Schrecengost who were working out of the basement of our church. Doc inspired me with his vision for the former pro athlete to have the opportunity to speak to young people all across the nation. I always felt I was part of something really “big” even when working in a small corner of the basement. As the years have gone by, I have come to own Doc’s vision myself. It really is “big” to want to impact the youth of this country and give them hope for their futures. To tell them how valuable they are. How special they are! Doc’s passion became mine. I feel I am exactly where I am meant to be and I am more than happy doing what I am doing. I am part of something BIG!
