April Blog - Region 5
I am very encouraged after my first month here at Sports World. It has been a whirlwind of learning about my new position and getting an understanding of our mission field. I have had the opportunity to meet many of the Northeast Region’s Team Captains and can honestly say that after each meeting, my enthusiasm and motivation continues to grow!
Along with our Team Captains, I have had a great opportunity to meet with the Pennsylvania National Guard’s Counterdrug program and their dynamic team of field personnel who spend their careers working in their community school programs to reach students and help them learn about the effects and dangers of drug and alcohol use. They are a great team that demonstrate that our military is not only defending our nation and our borders, but they are working hard to protect our youth from local and internal challenges that they are facing.
As month one has now passed, I have gained a preliminary understanding of activities in the Northeast. Our base of Team Captains and their Teams have provided a solid foundation of Outreach opportunities that will reach about 15,000 students this Fiscal Outreach year. We were able to accomplish this with less than 10 Outreaches. This means that with the growth of our program and the addition of more teams, we can significantly increase this number and grow our effective mission! I will be praying and working very hard to seek and meet more team captains throughout the Northeast Region that can help us achieve our growth goals.
One thing that I have learned for sure this first month; there are a lot of kids out there that are hurting or are seeking a positive word of encouragement, a vision for their future, and something that tells them that they have what it takes to be successful. What they need is a Message of Hope.
Thanks for all of your support! Have a great day!
